Mike Hickey (Smitty) bought Hell Saloon (formerly known as the Dam Site Inn) in 1998. For the next 15 years, Smitty and his family ran Dam Site Inn as a labor of love. Smitty poured his heart and soul into creating a great place to “Eat, drink and be merry”. A place where everyone who enters becomes an instant part of Hell’s friends and family.  In 2009, after the death of his wife and with both of his daughters in college, he made the difficult decision to sell the restaurant.

Smitty went on to open a couple of new restaurants including the Hell Hole Bar located in uptown Hell. He also founded and developed Smitty’s Sauces and Seasonings, which include the Bloody Caesar Cocktail Mix which has won 6 national awards and is distributed through approximately 400 grocers and convenience stores throughout Michigan.

Now, Smitty is back home at the now-named Hell Saloon. This time around he and his daughter Vanessa own and operate the restaurant. With the same heart and soul, they have created a great place with great food, where all their friends and family can “Eat, drink, and be merry!”
