Our winery and vineyard focus solely on producing quality wine from grapes and fruit that grow in the upper Midwest as we help define wines of The Upper Mississippi River Valley AVA.
In 2010 we added a small wood-stone pizza oven where we developed our own hand made pizza crust. Over the years our pizza has become as popular as our wine featuring more and more locally grown seasonal toppings.
Park Farm’s eleven-acre estate vineyard grows specific ‘cold climate’ grape cultivars – from Old World French-hybrids to several newer developments at the University of Minnesota that produce great wine and withstand the harsh winters of the Upper Midwest. Our grape cultivars are also able to produce ripe fruit within the constraints of Iowa’s shortened growing season.
This is why guests are often unfamiliar with our grapes’ names. Cultivars like Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon are simply unable to survive or produce quality fruit in our region.
We grow four grape cultivars for white wine – LaCrosse, LaCrescent, St. Pepin and Frontenac Gris – and two red grape cultivars – Maréchal Foch and Marquette. In 2019 we expanded our planting to include new comers Itasca (white grape) and Petite Pearl (red grape). We also contract with other growers in the Upper Midwest to source, St. Croix, Frontenac, Marquette and Petite Pearl. During Summer months we offer guided vineyard tours on Friday afternoons or you are free to explore after checking in the tasting room.
